- Create lessons based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) student standards and the Georgia academic standards
- Uphold the ASCA code of ethics to provide the highest level of professionalism and integrity
- Develop my own mission and vision statements for a school counseling program, as well as a beliefs statement about students
- Use data to monitor students' progress (academically, behaviorally, attendance)
- Use pretests in small group planning
- Use posttests to help evaluate lesson effectiveness and change lessons for the future based on the results
- Use needs assessment surveys to determine the best ways to meet the needs of students
- Use weekly and monthly calendars to manage time effectively with classroom lessons, group and individual counseling, supervision, and meetings
- Collect process, perception, and distal data for a targeted small group
- Create pre- and post-assessments for classroom lessons and groups
- Use school improvement data to design and implement a Targeted Intervention Plan, and share the results with classmates and school administrators
Direct Services
- Teach classroom lessons to students in academic, career, and personal/social topics
- Led or co-led 10 small groups on a wide range of themes
- Assist with various student crises involving DFCS
- Counsel students individually
- Consult with parents and teachers about students' academic and behavioral concerns and ways to best meet their needs
- Collaborate with a school psychologist to lead a resiliency skills group
- Assist in the planning and implementation of The Great Kindness Challenge Week to promote a positive school climate
- Collaborate regularly with other school counselors and educators around the country and internationally through my professional learning network
